The orphan Spirit
2 Corinthians 6:16b, 18 – “I will live in them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people… and I will be your father, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”
To understand the orphan spirit, we must examine the role of father and mother. A husband is a title given to someone who governs. He has the responsibility of representing God in the family. God gave this title to Adam in the beginning. Man’s duties were clear from the beginning. God approves the work of all men done. He must obey and exercise the government of God in the home.
The first point I want to make clear in this teaching is that life is spiritual. Everything that was made was first spiritual before it was made natural. This tells us that the first law a man lays in his home is the word of God which is spirit. When a home is built on godly principles God honors it. The Bible tells us that children bring joy to the Lord when they walk in truth. will rise up and call the mother blessed. (3 John 1:4)
Psalm 127:3-5 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one’s youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
A wife is a blessing to a man. God looked upon Adam and said he needed companionship. God formed form Eve and gifted her to Adam as his helpmate. Adam then said she is bone of my bone and flshe of my flesh. He recognized her value. The role of a woman is to primerily to enforce the laws the man/husband/father sets in the home.
This tells me that when a man takes a woman to be his wife, he must have a vision to lead his wife and family. Adam had already accomplish much before God gifted him Eve. He had already created a space for his wife to flourish. Please take time to read the first three chapters of Genesis. A woman needs a leader who has a vision to execute it.
Ephesians 6:4. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Together the father and mother are to train their children in the fear of the Lord and to live an upright life before God. The role of each parent is important in the upbringing of the child. If either parent fails in any way this leaves wounds that branch out from bitterness, unforgiveness, insecurities, pride, anger, and rejection. Having gone through the experience, it taints the view we have of God the Father.
It is difficult to believe in an invisible Father when your natural father abandoned his role in your life. It is hard to embrace the love of a God when your mother rejected you from birth. God’s love for us is expressed through our parents. His character is shown in many different ways.
Job 29:12 because I rescued the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to assist them.
An orphan mindset is a demonic spirit of abandonment. This starts when the laws of God for marriage is not obeyed. This is why I started with the role of a father and mother. It is the foundation for building a happy healthy home. Many of us have experienced abandonment in some form the other. This is because our parents also have experienced it and this spirit had passed down from generations.
It is wounds or hurts from broken parents and foundations. As we heal from these wounds we will be able to lead our homes in the manner God intended. I have heard it said that a man is your other half. The role of a father is to acknowledge their child. The role of the mother is to accept the child. When these roles are not applied to a child's upbringing, it affects a child's mind, will, and emotions.
Psalms 10:18 18 defending the fatherless and the oppressed, so that mere earthly mortals will never again strike terror.
The orphan spirit is fertile ground for all sorts of evil. Persons who find pleasure in hurting others are does who have had much disappointed in their lives. Someone who is healed and whole freely celebrates others and wants to see them succeed. Fear, doubt, idolatry, and suspicion are all signs of rejection and poor examples of the expression of God’s character. I had to go through inner healing.
Anything that does not align with God's truth is of the devil. Are you insecure? Jealous? Do you try to earn Gods approval through works instead of his completed work through Christ on the cross? Although our parents failed to lay out God's foundation in our lives, we can correct this. If both men and women accept God's identity and understand their roles, they will be able to give to their husbands and children what they did not receive from their parents.
We are in Christ. We have the mind of Christ and His heart we are actively working towards living a life that is pleasing and acceptable to God. We cannot be in Christ and not applying his word. We cannot wait for our spouse to do their role before we perform ours. It is our responsibility to take hold of the word of God and break free from all that does not resemble Christ to become the people who does.
We see the government of satan exhibited in broken homes. Let us be the ones to demonstrate the government and presense of God in our homes. For those of us whose husband do not yet walk in their identity be of God courage. Do what God has graced you to do and the woman he has anointed you to be and pray our husband catch up.
Resentment, anger, and suspicion taint your perception of men and God, so you now bring this mindset into your marriage. Once we are rejected by our earthly Father, they do not carry out their role correctly, and a deep void and wound are created. It makes it difficult to interact with your heavenly Father because you now see him through the lens of your earthly father, who rejected you.
Call to action:
God does not want us to operate outside of His will. He has adopted us into his kingdom to rule and reign and to be of influence. We are no longer aliens we are daughters of God heirs to His kingdom. Heirs adjust to the government of the kingdom they serve. Today embrace the Father’s love and allow Him to reveal himself to you.
