Mature in faith.
Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
In 2017, Hurricane Irma hit the Island of Saint Martin. My family and I returned from a relaxing vacation and back-to-school shopping trip. Shortly after we landed, we were informed of a category-five hurricane heading our way.
Hours before the storm, my husband and I gathered our children and prayed before bed that night. The Lord gave us peace and reassured us that we would be fine. While many were in panic mode, we weathered the storm in peace. We slept through the storm.
When I share this testimony, I usually get a strange look. Because that storm left death and destruction behind, the only way we could have responded the way we did was because of the revelation and knowledge of God's word.
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Most people think of defeat when circumstances arise that are beyond their control. Panic is an easy reaction when a storm hits. But we are not most people. This is the response of the world. We are sons and daughters of the Most High God.
Jesus weathered the storm at rest, and so should we. The difference in how Jesus responded to the storm was one of faith. The spirit of fear overcame the disciples. It showed a lack of maturity on their part. When the world responds with fear, we respond with faith.
What faith is to God, fear is to the devil. Fear gives the enemy license to cause theft, death, and destruction. Fear is coming in agreement with the devil. It kills faith. Fear is worship to the devil. In contrast, faith is worship unto the Lord. We give the Lord worship when we trust His word and resist the devil.
Habakkuk 3:19. The Lord God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places.
Your heavenly Father does not want you to be afraid of anything. He made sure to tell us this truth in his word. The spirit of faith strengthens our spirit and neutralizes every fiery dart of the enemy. Faith silences the enemy and brings his evil works to a complete halt.
Today, the Lord reminds us where there is a lack of faith; He cannot work freely. Faith aligns us with God's Word! This wee,k speak in line with God's Word. Believe in line with God's Word! Walk in agreement with God’s word.
When fear comes knocking at your door, open your mouth and shut it down. We are never to agree with the devil. May your faith overpower the spirit of fear coming up against you today in Jesus’ name.
