Devotional: Is Your Faith "Quiet Quitting"?
We've all heard the term "quiet quitting" – doing the bare minimum at work, just enough to not get fired. But what about "quiet quitting" our faith? Are we just going through the motions, attending church, maybe saying a quick prayer, but not truly engaged with God?
It's easy to fall into this trap. Life gets busy, distractions abound, and our spiritual fervor can dwindle. We might start skipping our quiet time, neglecting prayer, or avoiding fellowship with other believers. We're not outright rejecting God, but we're not actively pursuing Him either.
But here's the thing: the Christian life is not a passive endeavor. It's an active, ongoing relationship with God that requires intentionality and perseverance.
Hebrews 12:1-2 paints a vivid picture: "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith."
Just like a marathon runner, we need endurance to finish the race. We'll face challenges, setbacks, and moments where we want to give up. But God calls us to keep going, to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
So, how do we avoid "quiet quitting" our faith?
Prioritize your relationship with God: Make time for daily prayer, Bible reading, and meditation.
Stay connected to your church community: Find support and encouragement from fellow believers.
Serve others: Put your faith into action by using your gifts to bless others.
Resist complacency: Don't settle for a lukewarm faith. Seek to grow deeper in your relationship with God.
Remember God's faithfulness: Reflect on how God has been faithful to you in the past, and trust that He will continue to be faithful in the future.
Don't give up! The Christian life is a journey, not a destination. There will be ups and downs, but God is with you every step of the way.
