DEVOTIONAL: COME FROM AMONG THEM

1 Kings 13 16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place: 17 For it was said to me by the word of the Lord, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.

We are living in the days of false prophets and teachers. The Bible warns us that sin will increase, and it has undoubtedly been rampant in the church. Where there is greed, all sorts of evil will be found. There is a thin line between honor and false humility.

The word of God speaks for itself. It needs no correction or backing. When God speaks, we must listen and follow the instructions to the letter. God does not take pleasure in disobedience. In 1 Kings 13:16-17, a young prophet allowed the words of an old lying prophet to detour him from God's assignment. In the end, he lost his life.

As sons and daughters of God, we must know God's voice and be careful who we receive from. Only some people can be trusted to lead us. Even when the Lord assigns a Saul in your life, it is to mature us and stand on His word. As you grow in the Lord, there are things you will no longer desire or do. The Lord transforms those who are submitted to His will.

Saints, you will be tested; after you have been tested, the Lord will promote you. However, temptations are not of God. The devil uses what you love or have not been healed from to get you to sin against God.

A call to action:

  1. Test every spirit.

  2. Do not allow itchy ears to cause you to stray away from God

  3. Get to know the word of God and His voice for yourself.

  4. Get rid of anything that does not sound like Christ.

Let us continue to press into the higher calling in Christ Jesus. Our days are numbered. Let us be wise and make every moment be counted for righteousness.
