Devotional: Be good stewards of your thoughts.
Romans 12:2 KJV “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Making healthier choices starts with our thoughts. There is no permanent way to change our behavior without first changing our minds. I can’t tell you how often I started a health journey and failed. Willpower or motivation is not enough.
Along the way, I learned without getting to the core of the issue, rooted in unhealthy thinking and bad habits. The underlying perspective is more powerful than most of us realize. The power of our thoughts influences our health and decisions.
Just like diet alone cannot promote health, praying alone won’t change our thought patterns. We must make a deliberate choice by taking an inventory of our thoughts. If you think poorly, your actions will align with your thoughts. Recognize that your beliefs sabotage your efforts.
The word of God also tells us that our hearts can mislead us. That means what we believe is rooted in our hearts and shows through our speech and actions. This concept is also true when it comes to love. What are your thoughts towards God? If you do not love God, you won’t love yourself, nor will you love people as God intended. Our thoughts play a significant role in how we view the creator of the universe and the people around us.
Today, if there are areas you struggle in, take a moment to write down the most dominant thoughts that play in your mind. If they are not good thoughts, I suggest you devise a strategy to align your thoughts with things that are of good report.
