Come from behind the veil.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.
A spiritual veil symbolizes the separation of two places and the covering of something to hide from the truth being revealed. On the day Jesus was crucified, the veil was torn, which means there is no more division between us and God. We can come boldly to the throne of grace through the finished work at the cross to receive mercy.
Many Christian colloquialisms are not biblical, and many old wives' tales have also shaped our thinking. I recently had a series of questions for the Lord, one of which was why so many Christians live in defeat. The Lord responded, "My children are living in defeat because they choose to remain behind their veils. Why are shame and guilt louder than knowing you are loved, redeemed, and forgiven?
As I reflected on this conversation with the Lord, it became more evident that many of us are holding on to some lies that need to go. The lie that what is in the past should remain there. That is just one of the lies we have been told that keeps many believers stagnant. What are the barriers that prevent us from living our best lives in Christ?
Romans 12: 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
The world's influence includes training ungodly caretakers and systems. Anything that isn’t backed up with scripture is anti-Christ. Our walk with the Lord is a continual renewing of the mind. The gospel of Jesus is God-ordained and transformative. We must seek to become more like Jesus. This means letting go of old teachings and habits.
At the point of salvation, we have become the salt and light of the earth. We are to bring God's influence into the world. Church is where we are fed, matured, and ready for our respective mandates. God does not expect any of us to remain in the state He met us in. He expects us to be trained for every good work. We can't achieve this goal in the dark. Bring everything to the light of God so the enemy can't use it against us.
Jesus paid the price for you and me to walk in freedom. Whatever we have done, He knows and still calls us his. We must not allow the devil to cause us to walk in shame. May we let go of the things we have learned and practiced that are hindering us from being the vessel the Lord wants to use to bring healing and turn others back to God?
